Education

EducationCarol believes education is the pathway to success, improving our children’s lives today and creating business leaders, skilled employees, and informed citizens for tomorrow. In 2012 she passed and funded HB 115, Peer Assistance and Review, a successful peer mentoring and teacher evaluation program that has been implemented in the SLC School District. She also secured ongoing funding for the highly regarded International Baccalaureate (IB) program (HB 266), passed anti-bullying and hazing legislation (HB 325), and co-sponsored bills to reduce standardized testing in high schools and prevent SAGE scores from being tied to teacher evaluations.  To address the critical teacher shortage, Carol will advocate for higher salaries, lower class sizes, and reduction of unnecessary testing, and better support for teachers.
